Drop the Cape. Reclaim Your Body.
Reclamation is an 8-Week Somatic Program for Black Women Ready to Reclaim Their Bodies from the Toll of Constant Strength.
Being a Strong Black Woman, has a cost
Society expects you to be strong, resilient, and unyielding, but the constant demand to be strong leads to chronic stress, disconnection from your body, depression, and exhaustion.
And while this is a rational response to a world that demands your labor but rarely offers support, you need another way to forward.
Reclamation is an 8-week program where Black women reclaim their bodies, reconnect with their emotions, and prioritize their nourishment.
This 8-week program will help you:
Learn to distinguish between stress, anger, and exhaustion, and other emotions by tuning into your bodyās cues rather than ignoring them until you burn out.
Build an emotional vocabulary beyond āfineā or ātired,ā using neuroscience to understand how your brain constructs feelings from bodily sensations.
Practice taking up physical and emotional space through movement, helping you set boundaries that feel natural, not forced.
Use guided movement practices to physically release the chronic holding patterns caused by years of performing strength.
Develop the capacity to sit with difficult emotions like grief or anger without pushing them down or numbing out.
Create a personalized toolkit of nourishing habits and routines that support your well-being long after the program ends.

Iām Jennifer Sterling, a dance/movement therapist.
Iāve spent over 20 years helping Black women understand that their exhaustion is not personal failure. Itās the result of carrying systemic burdens.
As a therapist, holistic nutritionist, and chef, I believe healing happens when we engage the whole person ā mind, body, and spirit.
My work is informed by Black feminist scholarship, neuroscience, somatic theory, and personal experience.
know the cost of holding everyone else together while falling apart inside. I also know the way through isnāt working harder.
Itās finally having a space where you can practice softening, moving, and nourishing yourself with intention.

All sessions are recorded and available within 24 hours. That said, the live community experience is where the deepest work happens, so we encourage you to attend live when possible. If you need to miss a session, you won't fall behind.
If you have to miss more than three sessions, please avoid registering until you are able to attend consistently. -
No, but this complements therapy beautifully. Many participants continue individual therapy while enrolled in Unburdening.
-
You don't need any dance experience. This isn't about performance or doing it "right."
All practices are gentle, accessible, and guided. You move in ways that feel good to YOUR body. Many participants barely move at all in early sessions, and that's completely ok. -
Honest answer: You don't. But if you have the capacity and curiosity to try something different, Iād love for you to join us.
